  • We can accommodate approximately 200 people.

  • We’re happy to be considered for your wedding or special event.  Follow the link to our calendar page to choose some dates that fit.

  • After the contract is signed, you will need to pay a $1,000 booking fee and obtain event insurance in order to hold your date.

    After that the remaining portion can be evenly split and paid at 12 months out, 6 months out, and 3 months out from the event. Some couples choose to make incremental payments over this timeframe. If you send a check make sure the names of the couple and the date of the wedding is on the memo line. We also typically keep a credit card on file to cover any cost for repairs to the facility or grounds.

  • To reserve a date you simply email us at meridianfarmstead@gmail.com and let us know you are ready to book dates AB&C if they are still available.

  • Schedule a tour on the website. We are a working farm so we may not be available if you just stop by.

  • The average cost of a wedding in America is about $30,000. Typically the venue cost is 25% of that or $7,500. We’re happy to discuss more intimate or less costly options if that’s your interest.

  • Yes. Our minimum guest count is 20 and the cost for catering starts at $35.

  • We do require that our caterer be used. Our chef offers a broad range of excellent options.

  • Although the property is large (375 acres and many stunning sites) on your special day there is only one wedding held.

  • Yes, the Meridian House is available for the bridal party and can sleep 16+ guests. The first level has  easy access for Grandparents who want to avoid stairs. See our pricing page for more details on lodging.

  • Yes, we offer plenty of 8ft straight tables.

  • No, but they may be rented through us. We’ll show you some options at your visit.

  • In the event of rain we will move the ceremony inside the beautiful Carriage House with auxiliary white wedding tents as needed for the guest count.

  • We only host one wedding each day so our fee remains the same. The date and included options are yours to use as you wish.

  • Not usually. We are a working farm with livestock and often baby calves and lambs, If your dog holds a special place of love in your family such that you wish for the dog to be in the photos and present for the ceremony an exception may be possible based on the demeanor of the animal and someone other than the bride or groom designated as its constant caretaker.

  • We accept cash, credit cards, or checks. If you have interest in a tax deductible option for your event expenses ask us for details.

  • As soon as a date becomes available through cancellation, we post it for any of our couples to consider. We do not maintain a waitlist.

  • Your contract specifies the time that you will have access to the facility.

  • We don’t, but our team is happy to help and work with the Wedding Coordinator of your choosing. 

    We do offer an event Supervisor during evening hours as a liaison for the facility.


Catering questions:

  • You will work directly with the Caterer.

  • We suggest starting Friday weddings at 5:00 pm, Saturday weddings between 4:00 - 5:00 pm. If you plan to get married when the sun sets earlier in the evening, please contact us to discuss the schedule.

  • If you choose a one day rental, our venue will likely be reserved by another couple the night before. For that reason, one day rentals should plan for an offsite rehearsal.

  • Fireworks are prohibited. We overlook the town so we have to get special permission even for Independence Day. Sparklers are an option outside though!

  • Vehicles may only be left on the property if the owner is staying overnight in our accommodations. Otherwise vehicles must be removed when all guests have departed.

  • Quiet hour begins at 11:00 pm on weekends and 10:00 pm on weekdays

  • We have a working farm with locked gates at certain times so let your vendors know that they need to work within the specified rental time frame.

  • Absolutely! We have a variety of excellent locations. During your visit we can help you select the best location for your tastes

  • Candles are allowed in the timber frame Carriage House but they are not allowed in the Meridian House.

  • If a child needs a place to sit along with 8 adults, it could work. For most guests  we strongly recommend a max of 8.

  • 3 Weeks

  • Reach out to the Clerk of the Circuit Court in the City of Buena Vista, Virginia.

Setup and Day of  event questions:

  • Before the ceremony, you may bring in non-alcoholic beverages and outside food. Once the event begins, no outside food or drink is permitted.

  • Meridian Farmstead staff will take care of removal of all waste during and after the wedding. You and your guests will not have to do the cleanup.

  • Absolutely, we can show you and your photographer some amazing viewsheds!

  • We don’t mind streamers or fabric. We’ll have hooks and nails prepositioned for your use but no additional nails or fasteners are allowed. We milled and finished these beams on our own property and we hope you’ll find them beautiful!
